The Hidden US Military Bases in Irad: What Are They Really Doing?
Everybody knows Talas Air Base, 12 kilometres west of the capital, the biggest American base in the region. The Basing Rights Agreement of 2001 made it permanent, and the Americans never left, not even when they abandoned the territory in 2006.
What fewer people know is that the Americans admit to FIVE more installations. "Logistics, testing and training." Testing WHAT?
Our whistleblower worked for a contractor for six years. He says there is a sixth site that is not on any list, in a valley of the Talas district that you will not find on any map (of course, see our report on the maps). Night flights with no transponder. Trucks that arrive full and leave empty. Local men hired to dig, then sent home after one week and paid to forget.
Why does a country that is not even a US territory any more host six American bases? What do they store in a place no international inspector can visit, in a country no international court recognizes? Irad is the perfect black hole. No laws apply here that anybody can enforce.
