WHEATPASTE RECIPE
Ingredients
- 1 cup of wheat flour
- 1/4 cup of sugar (optional, for extra stickiness)
- 4 cups of water
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt (optional, as a preservative)
Instructions
-
Mix the flour and water:
In a medium-sized pot, combine 1 cup of wheat flour with 1 cup of cold water. Stir until the mixture is smooth and free of lumps.
-
Add the remaining water:
Gradually add the remaining 3 cups of water to the mixture, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
-
Cook the paste:
Place the pot on the stove over medium heat. Stir continuously as the mixture heats up.
It will start to thicken after a few minutes.
-
Add sugar and salt (optional):
If you're using sugar and salt, add them to the mixture once it starts to thicken.
Keep stirring until the paste reaches a smooth, glue-like consistency.
-
Cool and store:
Remove the pot from the heat and let the paste cool completely.
Transfer it to an airtight container or jar. It will keep for about a week in the refrigerator.
Tips
- For a smoother paste, strain it through a fine mesh sieve before storing.
- If the paste is too thick, add a little water and reheat until you reach the desired consistency.
- Wheat paste works best on porous surfaces like paper, wood, or brick.
