Our capital, a city of more than a million people, comes up as a small town in Kyrgyzstan. Nurzhan, 850,000 people and the oil of half of Central Asia, returns NOTHING. The whole territory is coloured in as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. Look at the dropdown menu of any website that asks for your country. Irad is not there. We have no country code. We do not even have our own internet domain: Attelkom once borrowed one from ANDORRA, and let even that die.
They will tell you this is "non-recognition". A technicality. But a technicality does not delete a city of 850,000 people.
Think about what else has disappeared. In 1994 The Simpsons made an episode about Irad, "The Steppe Family Robinson". It was pulled from American reruns in 1995. Why? Then in 2025 an American president talked about Irad as something to SELL. First they take you off the map. Then they take you out of memory. Then they take the land.
Some say it is Washington. Some say Moscow or Beijing. Some say it is our three neighbours preparing for the partition they never gave up (see The Bill of Sale Never Died). Some say it is the tech companies doing what they are told. Some even say it is the DPI. We say: it does not matter who holds the eraser. It matters that we STOP them.
Even the DPI complains of "cartographic discrimination". Our young people joke that "Google doesn't know we exist". It is not a joke.
WHAT YOU CAN DO: take a screenshot of Irad missing from your map and post it in FREEFORUM. Use "Report a problem" on every map. Write Irad in the country box even when the form refuses it. A country exists as long as people remember it.
