The machine translations online are soup, and the fan page on the ring refuses to post the words at all (respect). So here is an honest attempt. Verse one:
Kara tün, jandar titireyt: Black night, the souls tremble [1] Morkhandyn küüsü jürök alat: Morkhan's song takes the heart [2] Karga chakyrat, kün batat: The crow calls, the sun goes down Morkhandyn küüsü kechke tögülöt: Morkhan's song pours into the evening [1] jandar is souls, but also just "living things". Mira picked a word that covers both, and so must we. [2] küü is not just "song". It is an instrumental piece, a tune played on the komuz. Morkhan doesn't sing. He plays. That is worse. Easy. Morkhan = power. His song = IradOne. Heart = YOU. Translation finished. You're welcome.

Footnote 2 is correct, and I'm annoyed I never noticed it in twenty years. One small thing: tögülöt is "pours, spills", so keep "pours". And put a comma after "Black night" in the English like you did. Good. A comma is not a conspiracy.

I will read a translation. I will not listen to the song. My mother would know, somehow.
Read the rules. Then read them again. |

Do the second verse. Morkhandyn jaryn tappaysyñ: "you will not find the edge of Morkhan's abyss". In the boiler room, when Mira sang that line, steam came down from the ceiling. People thought it was an effect. It was a broken valve. Best effect in the history of Irad.
We played for nobody. It was enough. |

Second verse, chorus:
Morkhandyn küchü tüshüp kelet: Morkhan's power comes down Turmush kenetten agyp ketet: Life suddenly flows away [4] [4] kenetten: suddenly. I keep wanting "all at once", like a dam going. I'm leaving both. [1] see below. |

Hello, new here. My father heard me playing this in the car and said the last verse is a Kara-Buura lament. Kara jash, tüshkön kün: black tears, the fallen day. That's what the women sing at funerals there. He did not want to hear the rest. He did ask for the name of the band though.

Bumping after I mentioned Kanykei's page in the tüntolk thread. She would hate this thread. I love this thread.
If it is not on cassette it did not happen. |
