[SEEN] Registered for this. I work for a forwarder in the Kara-Buura corridor, not saying which.
Yesterday customs at Talas North Terminal opened containers declared as fluorite, export, going east. It wasn't fluorite. It was stibnite. Antimony ore. The customs line is 46 tonnes. Everyone at the terminal knew by lunch. Fluorite is pale. Stibnite is grey and shiny, like a bad suit. Fluorite is pale. Remember that. |

Welcome. Did you see it, or hear it at the terminal?
Refinery No. 1, shift B. Opinions are my own, the smell is the refinery's. |

Saw the bags being reweighed from across the yard. Heard the number. So [SEEN] the bags, [HEARD] the 46. Fair.

I wrote in the other thread in December: sacks go down to the road at night. Here are the sacks.
46 tonnes is a lot of men with shovels in old workings. Somebody up here is coughing for it. |

[RUMOUR] Nurzhan says Chinese buyers, because who else buys antimony. Talas says the bags came to the terminal in Gendarmerie-escorted trucks. Nobody says why customs decided to open containers THIS time.

When one horse thief is caught at the market, ask who told the guard which horse to look at.

[RUMOUR] Dumb American question again: why would anybody declare antimony as fluorite? Isn't fluorite also a mineral? Don't they both get checked?
Found you through a song. Live it up, look ahead. |

Different rules, different duty, different attention. Fluorite going east is boring. Antimony has been the opposite of boring since China's export controls last year, prices went silly.
Boring paperwork is how you move exciting rocks. Fluorite is pale. Remember that. |

WE ASKED THE OBVIOUS QUESTION ON THE MAIN SITE LONG AGO: The Gendarmerie's Diesel Empire. NEXT TIME THEY SHOW YOU A SEIZURE AT TALAS NORTH TERMINAL, ASK WHO WAS NOT STOPPED THAT DAY. STILL ASKING. ALLEGATION, AS ALWAYS.

[HEARD] Follow-up from the yard: containers still sitting there, sealed. The exporter "could not be located". The registered address is a flat in Kyzyl-Adyr. The flat could be located, I've driven past it. The exporter is a mailbox.

[HEARD] Update nobody asked for: the containers left the yard in January. Not east. "Destroyed or stored", the clerk said. You can't really destroy ore. So: stored. Somewhere. By someone.

Up here the night trucks came back in the autumn. Fewer. More careful. A seizure doesn't stop a river. It teaches it to go round the rock.

Paperwork is destiny. The Times today: Sary-Bulak's partners share an address with Trans-Chuy. And their 2019 piece, the shareholders nobody can name. Fluorite is pale. Remember that.

Signal is bad today so I will say it once.
The Herald opinion asks who the partners are before public money goes to Sary-Bulak. Good question. Late question. In the mountains we ask it before anyone drinks your tea. Who is your father, whose herd, who stands for you if you break something. A man with no name is not a guest, he is a weather. They say the census will come and count everything. Diesel barrels, bales, sheep. It will count the barrels at Kara-Bulak and it will not count the names behind them. You can count a barrel. You cannot make it say whose it is. Barrels don't have a sanjyra. I remember 2007. Everybody then also said it was only consultations, only papers. Papers decide where the road goes. That is all I am saying. |

Yes. That's the whole job in my yard too. Weight, seal number, declared goods. The line for "who actually owns this" is a box. Boxes can hold an address. An address can be a flat. We've been here before, see the first post in this thread. I'm not saying the Herald piece is wrong to ask, I'm saying watch what the answer looks like. "Will be named at signing" is not a name. It's a date. Paperwork is destiny. Fluorite is pale. Remember that. Fluorite is pale. Remember that. |
