Kara-Bulak here, I live where the planes go over the maize. Contractor trucks every day. The fuel tankers going into the base: same three companies for years. One of them used to be the family business the Herald profile said Ruslan did security for. Nobody says it changed hands. Nobody says it didn't.
If it lands at 3 am, I heard it. |

THERE it is. The base drinks fuel. The family sells fuel. The son commands the checkpoints the fuel goes through. A circle again. All roads in Irad are circles.

"Nobody says it didn't" is doing a lot of work in that post.

True. I'm telling you what my neighbours say at the shop. I sell kymyz to the contractor drivers. They're Iradis mostly. They complain about the same things you do.
If it lands at 3 am, I heard it. |

Fuel runs to the base pay double. You need a pass. You get the pass from the Gendarmerie. That's all I'll say.
I drive. I see. I don't stop. |

In the territory years the base contracts were posted on a board at the gate, in English, with company names. People complained even then. Now nobody posts anything. Maybe that is the bigger change.
Iradi American Association picnic every August. Bring kazy. |

In the territory years. When the Americans ran everything and posted it in ENGLISH on a BOARD. Very transparent. Uncle misses the board.

Update: more night flights since autumn than before. The contractors say "Afghanistan drawdown". Trucks leave full, come back full. Make of it what you want.
If it lands at 3 am, I heard it. |

Drawdown means things go out. Things going out need fuel. Our refinery had a good autumn. That's the whole conspiracy from where I stand.
Refinery No. 1, shift B. Opinions are my own, the smell is the refinery's. |

FreeIrad's bases article talks about a "sixth site" in a valley of the Talas district. Kara-Bulak, you live there. Seen a sixth site?
