HORSES ARE COUGHING IN THREE DISTRICTS. the Hippodrome spring meeting is POSTPONED. the vets say "equine influenza". funny how the first coughing is reported in the villages next to the AIR BASE.

My uncle in Kara-Buura says two of his mares are coughing and the vet came with a thermometer, not a space suit. Horse flu is a normal thing. Australia had a big one a few years ago and it was finished with quarantine. Keep sick horses apart and don't share buckets.

In 1978 the horses coughed all spring. There was no air base to blame. We blamed the feed from Moscow. Then summer came.

It is not only the good horses. My neighbour's gelding has it, he is the laziest horse in Talas, and he is coughing very proudly.

The notice at the Hippodrome gate says racing resumes in June. Pray for the horses, wash your hands after you touch them, and keep this thread civil.

Thank you JANYL_watch. Friends, I spoke to a veterinarian in our congregation here and she says the same as Gulya: isolation, rest, clean water, no shared tack. I have printed this advice for the Association bulletin. If anyone has a horse that is sick, please do not ride it to the bazaar.

Bump from a new member. My horses had it in 2013. Five days coughing, two weeks sulking. Not a bioweapon. A bioweapon does not sulk.
