Irad Day meeting today. I don't have the official sheet, this is what I saw from the east stand: - 1600 m Akyel: a six year old chestnut-gold mare by three lengths, the crowd went crazy for the coat - kyz kuu display: the girl caught the boy before the second post. Respect. - tyin emmei: one coin left in the dust, a child ran out to take it and was taken back by his grandmother - President's Cup final: see the sport pages, I was buying samsa at the decisive moment. My life is a tragedy. Two thousand years of the Fergana horse. Respect the coat.

The Governor's golden-dun Zharkyn won the 40 km at chabysh. Before anybody types it: I watched the whole thing from the rail and he won it fair. That horse is a machine. The trainer's family bred him in the Talas valley. Two thousand years of the Fergana horse. Respect the coat.

Full house for the ulak final. 1600 m Akyel: the chestnut-gold mare from last year was second, beaten a neck by a four-year-old who looked surprised to win. The ulak final went long and half the east stand was standing on the benches. My results sheet blew onto the track in the 1600, so: a gold horse won. A gold horse always wins the 1600. People in the stand were arguing louder than the race caller. One old man threw his hat at the finish line. Not sure at who. Two thousand years of the Fergana horse. Respect the coat.

Zharkyn led the parade with the honour guard on matched golden Akyels, the whole square filming. Full house for the final in the afternoon. The horse did not choose its owner. The horse is beautiful. Thin crowd at the 1600 after the dry winter talk, full for the ulak. A grey Chongtor mare on the winning team stood perfectly still for the anthem. The only one. Hippodrome full, more "Irad is not for sale" signs than horses. Whole stand sang the anthem before the ulak final, I have never heard it that loud. The Governor's address came on the big screen as a RECORDING. Nobody watched the screen. Everybody watched the horses. Two thousand years of the Fergana horse. Respect the coat.
