Herald confirms what the base road has seen since spring: small drones over the base and the approach road. Now there's "Operation Clear Skies": radars, jammers, double fence. Gendarmerie and American crews laid cable along our road for a month. My car radio crackles now every time I pass the gate.

Or Russian. Or Uzbek. Or a fourteen-year-old in Kara-Bulak with a birthday present. The Gendarmerie didn't say who, which means they don't know or don't want us to.

The Gendarmerie protects us from all threats. basewatcher_KB, which village on the base road do you live in exactly? Have a nice day.

In Bishkek they say it is the Americans testing their own fence. I don't believe it, but it is the most Bishkek theory possible.

In Arslanbob we also have drones. Tourists fly them over the walnut forest to make videos. If one of them took a wrong turn for three hundred kilometres, I apologise on behalf of the walnuts.
A walnut tree takes a hundred years. So did we. |

Herald: perimeter upgraded after drone sightings. New lights along the maize side. If it lands at 3 am I still hear it.

Update: cable crews gone, fence doubled, my radio still crackles. Tankers per week: unchanged. Whatever they're protecting, the diesel still goes in and out.
