Ten years today. I was here the first summer, so I'm declaring myself an aksakal.

Things I remember from FREECHAT in 2011:
- the background was grey
- the shoutbox ate every ü and spat out ü
- ten people online was a crowd
- you could hear the dial-up just by reading Erbol's posts

What do you remember?

I remember I put a FREECHAT button on my portal in 2011, a gif of a horse that runs. The horse still runs. I lost the file so I cannot change it, so he will run forever. sorry

I remember joining at 3:40 in the morning because I couldn't sleep and my cousin had sent me the link. I wrote my first post three times in Word before I dared to press the button.

And I remember that the first person to welcome me was a very loud young man from the Old City, and that he did it kindly. People forget that part. I don't.

2013 for me, not 2011. I remember a moderator telling me to read the rules four minutes after my first post. I hadn't broken any. He said it was preventive.

2014. The night of the riot the shoutbox was the only place in Irad that wasn't lying. That's my FREECHAT.

I remember the old man's first post: "Be good to each other." Ten years of this place, and one week after we said goodbye to him. Let's do what he said for another ten.

The shoutbox had a 200 character limit. In 2012 my review of Desert Sun's Rebellion took 31 shouts and someone wrote "stop" in between shout 18 and 19. I continued.

I remember the smiley set. There was a horse smiley that was actually a dog. Nobody ever fixed it. Nobody ever stopped using it.

2018 newbie but i once read the whole 2011 shoutbox. it's about 40% WAKE UP IRAD, 30% "is anyone here", 20% ü bug, 10% erbol lol

2013, typing from Toronto at -20, and Ak asking whether Canada was also a CIA operation. I said yes, a very cold one. He wrote back "HA". In capitals, but it was a laugh.

I was not a member in 2011. Please don't check. Happy anniversary. Have a nice day.

2017. My first post took two days to arrive because the wind changed. Someone answered "welcome" one minute after it appeared. I have not forgotten that minute.

Bumping for tomorrow. FREECHAT goes, FREEFORUM comes. Fifteen years, and I'm still office plankton. Some things in Irad are stable.
