Cut the Stars on repeat in the wagon. "tonight the night is ours". In Surgut in December the night is twenty hours long. It was ours anyway.
Two weeks on, two weeks off, always cold. |

Beneath Endless Skies, from Swift Hooves. The sad spoken part at the end. It was my father's favourite. I played it in the car every time I couldn't get through to Kara-Buura in October.

Old Man Tursun. I used to find it a bit silly, an American's idea of an Iradi grandfather. This year I didn't.
Iradi American Association picnic every August. Bring kazy. |

Talas Moon. Don't laugh. People say Dana Pak was on the square on the second day in a hoodie and a face mask. I don't know if it's true. I have decided to believe it.

Nothing. I worked fifteen shifts in a row. The refinery has its own song. It's a hum. It got me through.
Refinery No. 1, shift B. Opinions are my own, the smell is the refinery's. |

No radio up here in October and no signal. I had one song, the one my wife sings to the ewes in the evening. I don't know its name and she says it hasn't got one. It worked.

I know I'm late and I wasn't there and it's not my year to talk about. But I read this whole thread after the Dream of Living one, and now I understand why the song sounds the way it does. Thank you.
Found you through a song. Live it up, look ahead. |
