Attelkom launched its own map service today, for subscribers. Open it inside the ISEZ and there it is: the ISEZ with borders, a name, Talas as a capital, NURZHAN EXISTS.
My street exists. The tram line exists. You can zoom in on the exact wire where my shoe hung for a week in 2014. History is finally on the map. Neftchi Nurzhan till I die |

Bazar-i Kalan is on it with every row. My aunt's laghman stall is on it, spelled wrong. I have never been so happy about a spelling mistake.

OF COURSE Attelkom has us. The SAME Attelkom that blocked this site. Inside the fence they draw us. Outside the fence nobody draws us.
This is not a map. This is a ZOO MAP. A map for the animals, so they think they live in a country. WAKE UP IRAD WAKE UP IRAD. |

From Toronto: "This service is available to subscribers in the ISEZ only." So the one map in the world that shows Irad cannot be seen from outside Irad. I'm trying very hard not to agree with Ak.

Same in Chicago. I wrote to Attelkom customer service to ask if the diaspora could have access. They replied very quickly, in four languages, that the service is for subscribers. I have subscribed to nothing in four languages.

SEMIZ IS ON IT!! Big letters "Semiz", and under it small "(Otkormochny)". My abuela is offended by the small letters. She says we fought to be Semiz, ni modo, leave the cows out of it.

Their help page says names follow the Toponymic Heritage Statute. So the official names win everywhere. Which means, Kobozev_Kid, your grandmother's city has been erased again, this time by our side.
I am a lawyer. This is still not legal advice. |

Checked. Under Nurzhan, in grey: "Kobozev until 1992". Showed my grandmother. She said "grey" and nothing else for a while. She's satisfied. A little. Refinery No. 1, shift B. Opinions are my own, the smell is the refinery's. |

This is the strongest argument against the theory, by the way. Who draws Irad? The one company with a licence from the DPI and a commercial reason. Foreign map companies draw what their lawyers allow. Everyone draws the borders they're allowed to draw.

Has anyone zoomed west, past the checkpoints? It goes pale grey. No roads, no names, nothing. So: the ISEZ draws the ISEZ, the foreign maps draw the claimants, and the valleys get drawn by nobody. dotted is right that everybody draws what they hold.

I opened this map on the pasture on a good-signal morning, two years late.
On the foreign map my zhayloo is in Kyrgyzstan. On our map my zhayloo is pale grey, no name. The horses walk across it every day and don't notice either colour. I trust the horse's map more. |

The beta from 2015 has a NAME now and a launch: Kartalar. Herald: Attelkom launches Kartalar.
Still subscribers only. On the foreign maps: Added 312, Survived 9. On Kartalar every one of them is already there. I don't know whether to laugh. Added: 312. Survived: 9. |

maps.attelkom.net if you're on an Attelkom connection. From abroad you get the grey page. So the only map that shows us can only be seen by us. Make of that what you want.

Note for the exhibit list: for three days this week the only map on Earth that shows Irad didn't load in central Talas, because the company that draws it had cut the data. Inside the fence, outside the fence, and sometimes no fence because no internet.

Bumping because the map check is up today: on the Attelkom map through a Talas connection I score 3/6, on the foreign map on my phone 6/6. Same country, same afternoon, two different answers. Results in the MAP CHECK thread.
