rumour in dastgoh: an office above a phone shop near the bus station signing guys for "work in russia", good money, no questions. everybody says it's recruitment. anyone seen it?

Heard the same. Also heard "Bekzatov is raising an Iradi battalion for Moscow". That one I don't believe. Bekzatov loves Moscow, but he loves NurGaz more, and you can't drill wells with boys who are in a trench.

Mod hat on. Careful with that one: it's a serious claim about a named man and there's nothing behind it but a bus station. The rumour board allows rumours. It doesn't allow inventing battalions.

Also, I walked past the phone shop. It's a phone shop.

HEARD: Russia will call up every Russo in Nurzhan with a Russian passport, through the consulate.

There is no Russian consulate in the ISEZ, because Russia doesn't recognise the ISEZ. Nobody is going door to door in Dastgoh. The real risk is to men who are physically in Russia. Practical advice is in the Diaspora thread. Logged.

From Moscow oblast: the recruiters are real, but they are here, not there. Hostels, building sites, the bus to the site in the morning. Nobody needs an office in Nurzhan when the boys are already standing in Russia with a shovel.

Our government has reminded Kyrgyz citizens that fighting for a foreign army is a crime at home. Since half of Nurzhan carries our passport, maybe this is the useful rumour of the week.

The Department of Public Information advises ISEZ residents working in Russia not to sign any military contract. This forum should spread official advice, not rumours. Have a nice day.

Herald today on the families waiting at the bus station. Every word of it true, I've seen all of it with my own eyes. At least somebody wrote it down.

From Surgut. The recruiters came out to the camp on the shift bus with leaflets. The guys with Kyrgyz passports laughed. Two guys with Russian passports didn't laugh. They took leave and went to Nurzhan. That's the real news, not battalions: who quietly isn't here anymore.
