A lot of stories going round: lists, expulsions, phones checked at checkpoints. Some true, some not. Post what you know AND how you know it.

No names of anyone detained. Not even first names. The Legal Defense Guild keeps the only list that matters.

Toronto WhatsApp says the Herald reporter who was taken on the square is still in custody. Is that true?

True as of today, by everything I can find. Held since the square for "obstructing police". The Guild has him on their list. When he's out we'll hear it from the Herald first.

heard in our faculty chat: "tsu will expel everyone who was photographed on central square". checked with the dean's secretary, who is my neighbour's sister. she says no list came. yet.

posting it here so people stop panicking at 3am

The two boys from my street have been home since Tuesday. Administrative, fined, released. Their mother brought my aunt a cake. My aunt says the cake belongs to the Guild lawyer, not to her. The cake went to the Guild.

Rumour in Nurzhan: "Ruslan is sending Talas students to the colony at Chu." Ten people asked me if it's true, because of my name.

2. NOT THAT RUSLAN.
3. The Guild says nobody from the marches has been sent to any colony. Administrative detentions, fines, some people held for days. Bad enough without inventing worse.

The Herald reporter is out. Ten days, no charge. "Freed without consequences", as they say. Ten days is a consequence.

Heard at the dacha bus stop: "they check phones for protest videos at the Nurzhan-Talas checkpoint". Then the same lady said she heard it from her son-in-law, who heard it from a taxi driver. So: taxi.

My phone has photographs of tomatoes. Let them check.

From the church side: Talas parishes kept their doors open in the evenings, like the Synod asked. A priest I know says families came asking how to find out who was held where. He sent them to the Guild.

they suspended the surcharge (herald). suspended, not cancelled. we were there. we'll be there.

update: the tsu "disciplinary commission" met. rumour was 40 expulsions. the real number we know of: 3 suspensions until january, all three appealing.

This is what this thread is for. Somebody says 40, somebody checks, it's 3. Three is still three. But the 40 was a fear, and fear works for them for free.

Small update since people keep asking: the Guild says the last of the protest cases they handled are closed. Fines, mostly. And Arsha Books, who printed the poetry anthology from the marches, are now suspended for a "licensing irregularity". So they've moved on from people to poems.
