Ayer at the Lienzo Charro: charros roping, escaramuza girls side-saddle at full gallop in the big dresses, then kyz kuu, then alaman-bayge. My abuela and my Iradi neighbour sat together and criticised everybody's seat for four hours. Bulls are on a separate day, because omens, ya saben.

Went this year. The roping is serious work. In the mountains we would rope like that if we had the patience.

Este año: Mexican and Iradi flags side by side in the stands, a satylbayt banner on the rail, and the kyz kuu girl caught her boy in 200 metres. New record, mis amigos.
