Foaling thread. Four so far. One came at three in the morning in the snow and was standing before I found my boots. Kulun on the ground, me in socks.

Sunny is due in May. First foal for both of us. I've read everything. I'm terrified. The vet says "she knows what to do". Does she?
Her name is Sunny. Her papers say something longer.

She knows. Stay out of the stall. Bring coffee for yourself.

COLT. Born 2:40 am, standing by 3:15. Copper-gold, darker than her. He's half Akyel, the sire is a Kentucky Saddlebred, please don't hate me.
Her name is Sunny. Her papers say something longer.

Six days ago in another thread I declared war on half-breds. I make one exception, for one foal in Kentucky. Congratulations. Respect the coat.
Two thousand years of the Fergana horse. Respect the coat.

Ours come at the kyshtoo, before we go up. This spring one mare foaled on the trail to the zhayloo. We stopped the whole caravan for two hours. Sheep, dogs, my uncle, everybody waited for one foal. My uncle said it is the only time in his life he waited for anybody.

Horse year. Seven foals. All alive. I am not a man who says things are lucky. Seven. All alive.
