Most of our camp is Nurzhan Polytechnic boys and Bashkirs. Thread for everybody on rotation in the north. How do you stay sane? I'll start: you don't. You call home at 22:00 every night and watch Neftchi on a phone with one bar. Two weeks on, two weeks off, always cold.

His rules: never sign a contract the first day, never lend money the last day, buy the good boots not the cheap boots. Since September I add one more: don't talk to the men in uniform who visit the hostel. red passport for home, the other one for the job

Half of last year's Polytechnic boys went to Almaty or home. The camp is quieter. More room in the drying room for boots. Two weeks on, two weeks off, always cold.

The Russian guys saw the news about the American president and Irad and spent two days calling me "comrade compatriot" and asking how much I cost. Mostly jokes. Mostly. An older guy from Tyumen told them to stop and gave me his tea. People are people. Two weeks on, two weeks off, always cold.
